Daily Prompt: Origin Story

Daily Prompt: Origin Story

Why did you start your blog? Is that still why you blog, or has your site gone in a different direction than you’d planned?

My answer is after the jump.

I began my blog in tandem with the run up to the launch of Someone to Remember Me. It occurred to me that others would be inspired, just as I was, to learn more about the process of self-publishing after reading the book and that they might seek out an online presence of mine to learn more.

After all, that was what I did after reading the delightfully well-written The Riyria Revelations by Michael J. Sullivan—a simple act that started me down the slope of publishing.

This blog was, at its onset, originally meant to be something of a self-help page for frustrated writers. I think I had this grand notion of posting how-to articles with insights and recommendations. That never really took off and hasn’t had a single overriding vision ever since.

If my blog has a purpose then it’s a selfish one at best: to keep me writing as often as possible about various subjects and content. To that end it has served admirably, if oft neglected, and will continue to do so.

One day I’d like to start a specialty blog about something, but until I figure out what and why I’m happy with this blog.
